"Killer State Parks" - Colorado State Forest State Park - 2016 Editors Choice

Blown away!  That is the only phrase to describe this Park.  Geologically speaking this park offers The Medicine Bow Mountain Range, lava flows, and sand dunes, yes "Sand Dunes".  In addition to magnificent views and landscape, count on seeing plenty of wildlife.  Known as the moose viewing capital of Colorado, bighorn sheep,  black bear, mule deer, and elk also roam the rugged wilderness.  Miles of trails and access to Rocky Mountain National Park offer backcountry camping, hiking, skiing, biking, and birding opportunities.  This may be on our short list for Best Killer State Parks in the U.S.
