"Killer State Parks!" - Cascade River State Park - 2016 Editors Choice Minnesota

We like Rocks, Water, and lots of open trail!  When visiting Cascade River State Park you will see all of the above.  Located on the North shore of Lake Superior it is a hefty trek just to drive to, but well worth the reward.  The mouth of the Cascade River empties into Lake Superior and offers spectacular views of the Lake and shoreline.  It lies on the southern edge of the Superior National Forest.  The park has 18 miles of mostly intermediate hiking, snowshoeing, and cross country trails, however the 310 mile Superior Hiking Trail runs through the park offering extended backpacking, thru hikes, and back country camping.

See the largest fresh water lake in the world.  Wolf, Bear, and Moose are frequently seen in the park as well as many other species.  This is an out of the way park but if your up to it, Cascade River State Park offers everything we look for in a "Killer Park".  Here is the link to their site for more information.
